McCann Detroit

I returned to Detroit in 2003 as the Executive Creative Director at McCann where I was lucky enough to work on a wide variety of different accounts. It was also my introduction to the Automotive Category.

As ECD of the office, I had the opportunity to be the patron of the Pure Michigan tourism campaign. Over the years we've won many awards for this bit of work and it is widely recognized as one of the best tourism campaigns of all time.

We had SAAB before it disappeared into the Swedish countryside from which it came. And as a GM roster agency, Chevrolet would often request our help. The Joyride spot on the left ran on Super Bowl 2012.

After an 18 month pitch, we won ALDI food stores. (yep, you read that right) One of the most successful companies in the world, we positioned the ALDI brand and introduced them
to the U.S. with their first national campaign.

General Motors Corporate Brand advertising always kept us busy. I've been with them through the best and the worst

of times. Pre-bankruptcy, during bankrptcy and post-bankruptcy, creating messaging that reinforced the strength behind a sometimes misaligned brand.

General Motors Corporate Retail Advertising was one of my passions. We led the way on automotive retail more than

a few times over the years. Whether it was going to market with the combined strength of all 7 divisions, introducing humor

to the category with a suave guy in a big red foam suit, plainly presenting the facts and letting consumers decide,

or changing the game by offering the Employee Discount for Everyone. It was a lot of work, but the the impact it had on the corporation as a whole was well worth it.
